C&ES’s Americus Spencer and Steven Davis, Jr. had the opportunity to service JAXPORT in a different way this past week. The two took part in the “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida” mentoring program with JAXPORT. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with measurable impact. C&ES was ecstatic to share personal, educational, and career experiences with the group of high school Juniors and Seniors from First Coast High School, located on Jacksonville’s north side. C&ES has active involvement in the horizontal design of the fresh new subdivision located in Jacksonville’s “Soul District.” READ FULL STORY IN JAX DAILY RECORD.
Contribution from C&ES will go towards the purchase of equipment such as bats, gloves, travel bags, training aids and etc.. The funds will also upgrade facilities such as batting cages, lights, dugouts, locker rooms and better uniforms for the regular season. These efforts are in support to help this program get the niceties the college can’t provide due to lack of finances.
The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) recently awarded a multi-year Construction Management and Inspections Services contract to minority-owned and operated Construction & Engineering Service Consultants, Inc. (C&ES). Although firms certified under the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) program have served as sub-contractors in the past, this agreement marks the first time that a minority-owned JSEB firm has been selected as a prime contractor for port projects. “Contracts like this ensure that everyone has access to what I see as the American Dream: to make a real contribution and prosper,” said JAXPORT Board Chairman Dr. John Newman. “Having opportunities open to all has a proven, positive impact on the economic health of our community and that’s a crucial part of our work here at the port.”
